Your heart starts to feel like an overcrowded lifeboat. You throw your pride out to keep it afloat, and your self-respect and your independence. After a while you start throwing people out - your friends, everyone you used to know. And its still not enough. The lifeboat is still sinking, and you know its going to take you down with it.
What I say is that in situations like this a lifejacket would come in handy. But again, that for the people who plan ahead.

Ooh, one of those Love S(t)inks posts. Tell all, Raman, tell all.
What is the lifeboat a metaphor for, btw?
The lifeJACKET, I mean, not the lifeboat.
lifejacket is something u can tie ur independence etc in, when throwing them off the boat. once u are done with that lifeboat, keep floating with the jacket u threw and wait and wait and then some more wait, till the next one rescues u... :)
My favorite quote from Shantaram...
"One of the reasons why we crave love and seek it so desperately is that love is the only cure for loneliness, and shame, and sorrow. But some feelings sink so deep into the heart that only loneliness can help you find them again. Some truths about yourself are so painful that only shame can help you live with them.
And some things are just so sad that only your soul can do the crying for you."
- Gregory David Roberts in Shantaram
You know Neha met the author of the book. And i guess there's going to be a movie around soon. Hope it does not make a joke of the book.
Oh Wow!! I envy Neha for this! You know this book is an autobiography of the author, and he had written this book while he was in jail...
The movie has been in the pipeline since more than 2 years now, but keeps getting postponed due to some reason or the other... As per the actual plans, Johnny Depp was to play Roberts himself (Shantaram) and Chunky Pandey was to be Prabakar... And it was to be shot in Mumbai and Goa. Dunno if they still plan to stick to the same star cast and location...
even i envy her (not only for this but a loads of stuff)... :)
and yeah.. the same thing i heard abt the case.
Johny Depp (5'10" or so) and
Gregory (well lets just he's a tall australian fellow!!! )
People just don't get it sometimes don't they!
Ah, don't forget Prabaker, a charming 18-19 years old fellow, and Chunky Pandey... Well, some things are better left unspoken!
